Cruising Destination Ideas

Ideas for places to go on a cruise
Admit it. Before you went on your first cruise, all you could picture when you thought about cruise ships and cruise vacations were re-runs of the Love Boat. When people went on cruises, they went to sunny, tropical places like Bermuda, Mexico, and Hawaii.

Cruise ship travel is more popular than ever because it's affordable. You can go to sunny places like Hawaii and the Caribbean, as well as places like Hong Kong, Alaska, Norway, and the Amazon River.

Still, most cruising is done when it's warm out. One of the most popular places for people who have never been on a cruise before to go is the Caribbean. There are places like the Bahamas, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands to choose from. The Dominican Republic, Jamaica, and the Cayman Islands are also on the list. Most of the time, cruise ships that are going to the Caribbean leave from ports in Florida or along the East Coast of the United States. The same goes for the beautiful island of Bermuda.

People who live on the West Coast of the United States often take cruises to Hawaii and its islands. Some people who go on vacation just want to see Punaluu's black sand beaches. Not only are cool Alaskan cruises popular because of the sights, but also because of the fun side trips that can be taken. Glaciers can be seen from the ground, from a helicopter, or even on a guided walking tour. Some of the Alaskan ports are places where they can fish for salmon or learn about the Gold Rush. These cruises also give you a chance to see wildlife. People have seen humpback whales, moose, wolverines, sea lions, and bears from the ship.

If it's winter in the United States, you can bet that experienced cruisers will head to Rio de Janeiro or Buenos Aires in South America to spend their summers in a more exotic place. Some people who are more daring may decide to go on a cruise through the Amazon or through the Galapagos Islands.

Some people may like the Indian Ocean because it has ports that aren't as busy with tourists. African islands like Madagascar, the Seychelles, and the Spice Islands are some of these ports. You could even add a Kenyan safari to your trip to make it longer.

History lovers who like to cruise will be drawn to the Mediterranean Sea. Italy and the ruins of Rome, like the Colosseum, are two places with a lot of history. Greece is another popular place to visit in the Mediterranean that has a lot of history. Corfu and Crete are often visited on a cruise around Greece. If you want to travel back in time, you have to go to other parts of Europe. There is something for everyone, from the castles of Scotland to the Latin food of Barcelona, Spain.

One of the hardest things about going on a cruise is figuring out where to go. A lot of us can't go places because of how much money we have. Want to go somewhere warm and sunny or take a cruise to Alaska? No matter how much money you have, there are wonderful places to cruise.
